Throughout its over eight-plus decades in business SBG has leveraged as well as expanded its capabilities, showing creativity and the capacity to innovate, to meet the growing needs of its world-class customer base.   Three years ago, SBG was approached to take on the role of scaling manufacturing and providing logistics services for a company, Portadam, developing a best-in-class flood barrier system, FloodDefender^®. The flood industry was growing and the supply chain solutions available were still maturing. Understanding the manufacturing supply chain challenges within the flood protection industry, SBG decided to add this dynamic business unit to its portfolio.

Our Development Journey

The FloodDefender^® perimeter flood barrier system was developed by Portadam, a US based company with over four decades of experience with water-control.   FloodDefender^® was developed using Portadam's extensive knowledge and expertise in erecting cofferdams that diverted water in waterways across North America using its own proprietary Portadam A-Frame system.  Using this wealth of expertise as well as the feedback of customers interested in flood protection, the Portadam team developed a rapid-deployment/compact storage flood barrier system, the FloodDefender^® product, which was patented and FM Approved.  Knowing that its focus would not be on manufacturing and logistics for the FloodDefender^® product line, Portadam approached SBG to become its key manufacturing/logistics partner. When Portadam subsequently decided to focus on its core cofferdam business the flood business was acquired by SBG.
